Situated within one of the most breathtaking tropical gardens in the archipelago, the Monte Palace Museum in Madeira showcases collections of significant value, providing visitors with the opportunity to embark on a journey through diverse geographic locations and cultures. Nestled atop a hill with a sweeping panoramic view of the Funchal bay, the Monte Palace Madeira Gardens boast around 100,000 plant species across a vast 70,000 m² area. Within this verdant haven, the Monte Palace Museum unfolds, offering three galleries that house two distinct collections.

The “African Passion” collection graces the galleries with over 1000 pieces of contemporary Zimbabwean sculpture, dating from 1966 to 1969. In a harmonious blend with the exotic flora, these works contribute to the immersive experience within the museum. The second collection, named “Mother Nature Secrets,” showcases an array of minerals predominantly sourced from Brazil, Portugal, South Africa, Zambia, Peru, Argentina, and North America. Approximately 700 samples are thoughtfully displayed, enriching the Monte Palace Museum Madeira with the wonders of Mother Nature.
