A highlight for purchase is their medium dry Madeira wine, aged for 5 years and exquisitely packaged. D’Oliveiras also offers a vast array of older wines, including the rare Terrantez variety.

Founded in 1850 by the Pereira D’Oliveira family, the company has expanded through acquisitions, tracing its origins back to the 1820s. Its headquarters in Funchal are housed in a building dating to the 1600s.

Annually, D’Oliveira produces about 150,000 liters of a wide range of wines, including Tinta Negra varieties aged 3, 5, 10, and 15 years. The winery also produces Sercial, Verdelho, Bual, Malmsey, and Terrantez wines, focusing on traditional wine-making methods rather than the more exotic grape blendings seen in some modern wineries.

Wines aged up to 10 years are crafted using the Estufagem process, while those labeled as 15 years old are matured using the Canteiro method. D’Oliveira is believed to hold an impressive stock of older wines, estimated at about 1.5 million liters, including rare vintages from defunct wineries now part of their collection.
