Just south of the prestigious district of Blloku is Tirana’s Grand Park, the top spot for fresh air and some exercise in the city centre. It covers 230 hectares and is surrounded by a large artificial lake which dates back to 1957–1958. The park contains and outdoor theater, which was rebuilt in 2018.

Famously, the Presidential Palace can be found here, originally designated as a residence for King Zog I, but was only completed a few years before he was forced to leave the country. Several Albanian national heroes, including politicians, writers and philosophers, also have tombs in the park. You can find people fishing on the lakeshore throughout the year, which indicates improving water quality, while swimming outdoors is available in the summer.
