The Museu CR7 is dedicated to showcasing the trophies of Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and is situated in his birthplace, the city of Funchal on the Portuguese island of Madeira.

Adjacent to the museum is a hotel, developed through a partnership between Ronaldo and the Pestana Group. The current museum floor, reminiscent of its predecessor, features a Portuguese pavement style and is adorned with the museum’s logo. Additionally, the museum proudly sponsors the local football team União da Madeira.

Facing the museum stands a bronze statue of Cristiano Ronaldo, crafted by Madeiran sculptor Ricardo Velosa. The museum was inaugurated on December 15, 2013, by Ronaldo’s former club Sporting CP. Notable attendees at the opening ceremony included the second President of the Regional Government of Madeira Alberto João Jardim, Pepe, Paulo Bento, Emilio Butragueño, and Ronaldo’s then-girlfriend, Irina Shayk. At the time of the opening, the collection boasted 126 displayed trophies. The original museum location was a 400-meter space on Rua Imperatriz Dona Amélia in Sé, Funchal.

On March 24, 2016, Ronaldo’s bronze statue was relocated a few meters from its initial position near Avenida Sá Carneiro to be in front of the under-construction hotel and new museum, closer to the port of Funchal, with modifications to the statue’s stand.

On June 6, 2016, the museum was reopened in a new, more expansive location on Praça do Mar, also in Sé, Funchal, occupying a 1,400-square-meter space below the Pestana CR7 Hotel, a collaboration between Ronaldo and the Pestana Group. The hotel’s official inauguration took place on July 1, 2016, attended by Ronaldo, the President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Presidents of the Regional Government of Madeira Miguel Albuquerque, and the President of the Pestana Group Dionísio Pestana.

During the hotel’s inauguration, the square was renamed from Praça do Mar to Praça CR7. The exhibition within the museum includes photographs and videos highlighting the athlete’s career, as well as waxworks of Ronaldo against pictorial backgrounds for visitors to capture photographs. The museum houses all the youth and professional trophies earned by Ronaldo at CF Andorinha, Nacional da Madeira, Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus FC, and the Portugal national team.
