"The original church from the 11th/12th century was one of the oldest in the city. No traces of the original structure remain and this “new” versionwas constructed at the end of the 16th century. It is a large church with three naves divided by brick columns that contrast with the walls and ceiling. The highlight feature is surely the very ornate reredos (altarpiece) which includes statuary, intricate columns, and almost too much gilded artistry to take in. Situated within the Citadel this is a church worth seeing...."

The church was built in the19th century, and is also known as Church of Nossa Senhora do Sardão. The church is considered the oldest church in Bragança, the Romanesque church was, for two centuries, modified, which resulted in a Baroque style. The façade features a baroque portal richly decorated with two Solomonic columns decorated with vines and curls...."

"The church may be nice during the day when it's well lit. It might be a 5 star because of the altar, but we arrived in the evening and the lightningwas off, instead there was a box to turn it on for 1€/10min. The problem is that the machine swallowed our coins but didn't turn on the lights, so we couldn't really enjoy the view...."
