Torre de Alquiza

Tower in Granada

The Torre de Alquiza or the Tower of Alquiza is a small defensive tower, of the Alcazaba, in the Alhambra Complex in Granada, Spain. It is solid and without interior rooms. It is located on the first curtain wall, north of the Plaza de las Armas that separates it from the street-entrance moat from the Puerta de las Armas towards the Torre del Cubo.

It has a rectangular shape, and protrudes from the curtain wall, at its foot there is the passageway that connects the entrance to the Plaza de las Armas, under the Torre del Homenaje, with the upper room of the Plaza de las Armas.

You can access the battlements via a steep and narrow stairwell, as soon as we enter the Plaza de las Armas, at the base of the Torre del Homenaje.

It has spectacular views of the Albaycín quarter  and the Sacromonte quarter of Granada. Also looking down on the Plaza de Armas and to view different aspects of the Torre del Homenaje, Quebrada, de la Sultana and Torre de la Vela, as well as the most access to the Palaces, which are located below.
