Phap Bao Temple, also recognized as Phac Hat Pagoda, is a Buddhist sanctuary nestled at the intersection of Hai Ba Trung and Phan Chau Trinh Street, merely a block away from the Tran Family Chapel. As an active place of worship, Phap Bao does not require visitors to present a ticket, though modest attire and shoe removal are necessary before entering the main sanctuary.

The temple’s grand entrance features imposing bronze guardians and opens into a vast courtyard adorned with a fountain, various statues, shrines, and an abundance of potted plants. The exterior of the main worship hall is particularly striking, characterized by its double Resting Hill roofs, intricate dragon and tortoise statues, and large lacquered panels that illustrate scenes from the life of Buddha. Inside, the altars of the worship chamber are designed in a subdued golden palette, contrasted with statuettes painted in vivid primary colors, offering a refreshing visual break from the deep reds and golds typical of other sacred sites within the Ancient Town.

Phap Bao Temple serves as a serene garden oasis just outside the bustling Ancient Town, surrounded by cafes and storefronts. Despite its urban setting, the spacious garden allows visitors to experience a profound sense of tranquility and zen.
