Bangkok Flower Market, locally known as Pak Khlong Talad, is the city’s largest wholesale and retail fresh flower market, offering a dazzling array of blooms at astonishingly low prices. Located in the Old City along Chak Phet Road near Saphan Phut (Memorial Bridge), this vibrant market is housed in 2- to 3-story shophouses lining both sides of the street. Just south of Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), it is easily accessible and makes for a great stop when exploring nearby historical attractions. While the market operates 24 hours a day, it truly comes alive at night when ice-packed crates of orchids, roses, lotus blooms, and more arrive from the countryside. By day, the market is quieter, with some flower stalls still open but largely replaced by vendors selling fruits and vegetables at wholesale prices.

The market’s highlights include watching skilled vendors along Chakkaraphet Road create sacred temple offerings and intricate floral arrangements with incredible speed. Marvel at the artistry as they fold lotus petals, string jasmine into garlands (malais), and assemble vibrant arrangements for weddings and funerals. Inside the covered market area, you’ll find bundles of orchids, button carnations, and green bananas still on the stem, alongside towering stacks of pineapples and pre-made offerings. Across the street, don’t miss the ready-made bouquets and vibrant orchids, available for as little as 30 baht (around 90 cents). Pak Khlong Talad is a sensory feast and an iconic experience, particularly for jet-lagged travelers seeking late-night adventures or early-morning sights.
