"Walked the city wall. I can't lie.. it took some energy... LOTS of steps..and it took us a couple of hours to walk the full distance but it could becompleted in less time. You don't have to do it all in one go as we did: there are various exit and entry points so you can take a break if needs be. My friend and I are in our sixties, not super fit and we managed fine. We just took our time. Also... the wall is well maintained and quite safe as long as you have sensible footwear! Glad we were there in October as it wasn't too hot. Think it would be really tough in height of summer... although there are 3 or 4 refreshment areas on the wall. Cost 40 euros but well worth it. A unique experience and oh the views!!! Nb you can purchase the Dubrovnik Pass for same price which gives you 24 hour access to wall and several other attractions as well as buses...."

With very few tourists around, the place felt peaceful and unspoiled, allowing plenty of time to explore without any rush or distractions. The quiet atmosphere during this period makes it ideal for photography, as you can capture the natural beauty and details without crowds getting in the frame. The overall experience was far more immersive compared to peak season visits. If you want to truly enjoy Pile Gate without noise, congestion, or commercial chaos, off-season is the best time to go. "Very crowded at most times. Try getting there later in the afternoon when many guided groups are leaving then stay on as darkness falls fie awonderfully atmospheric experience. No need to buy a pass to enjoy the wonderful streets and harbour. I'd recommend visiting for a day before deciding which length of pass you feel would suit you best...."
