The Hôtel de Bourgtheroulde, situated in the heart of Rouen’s historic center, is a distinguished Renaissance-era mansion that has been transformed into a luxurious five-star hotel. Constructed in the early 16th century by Guillaume II Le Roux, a prominent local nobleman, the building showcases a blend of Gothic and early Renaissance architectural styles. One of its most notable features is the Aumale Gallery, adorned with intricate bas-reliefs depicting the 1520 meeting between Francis I of France and Henry VIII of England at the Field of the Cloth of Gold, as well as allegorical scenes from Petrarch’s “Triumphs”.

Over the centuries, the Hôtel de Bourgtheroulde has undergone various transformations, including serving as a bank until 2006. After extensive renovations, it reopened in 2010 as a luxury hotel, now part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The hotel seamlessly combines historical charm with modern amenities, featuring 78 elegantly appointed rooms, a gourmet restaurant, and a state-of-the-art spa. The spa boasts the largest indoor pool in Normandy, complete with massage jets, a sauna, and a hammam, providing guests with a serene retreat.

Today, the Hôtel de Bourgtheroulde stands as a testament to Rouen’s rich cultural heritage, offering visitors an immersive experience that bridges the past and present. Its prime location on Place de la Pucelle places guests within walking distance of Rouen’s iconic landmarks, including the Gros-Horloge and the Notre-Dame Cathedral, making it an ideal base for exploring the city’s historical and architectural treasures.
