Situated at an elevation of 580 meters, Cabo Girão claims the title of the highest promontory in Europe, but its fame extends beyond its impressive height.

The Cabo Girão viewpoint, renowned for its captivating suspended glass platform known as the skywalk, has garnered international attention and stands as one of the most visited and photographed tourist attractions in the archipelago. This viewpoint offers a distinctive vantage point, providing a panoramic view of the cities of Câmara de Lobos and Funchal, creating an urban tableau framed by a natural amphitheater facing south.

Against this backdrop, the cliffs unveil Fajã do Rancho and Fajã do Cabo Girão, characterized by small cultivated areas at the base of the cliffs. This extensive coastal precipice also serves as a popular location for paragliding and BASE jumping, earning it recognition, including being chosen by Portuguese parachutist Mário Pardo for his notable motorbike jump.
