Tumski Bridge, Wrocław
Bridge in Wrocław

Tumski Bridge (Most Tumski) is one of Wrocław's most iconic and picturesque bridges, connecting Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island) with Sand Island (Wyspa Piaskowa). Originally built as a wooden structure in the 12th century, it was later replaced with a neo-Gothic iron bridge in 1889, designed by Karl Klimm. Located in one of the city's most historic districts, Tumski Bridge serves as both a practical pedestrian crossing and a symbolic link between Wrocław's past and present.
Romantic Traditions and Scenic Views
For many years, Tumski Bridge was known as Wrocław's “Lovers' Bridge”, where couples would attach padlocks to its railings as a sign of eternal love before throwing the key into the Oder River. However, in 2019, the city removed thousands of padlocks due to concerns over the bridge's structural integrity. Despite this, Tumski Bridge remains one of the most romantic spots in Wrocław, offering stunning views of the Oder River, Wrocław Cathedral, and the historic skyline. Especially beautiful at sunset, the bridge is a must-visit for both tourists and locals looking to experience the city's charming atmosphere.
