The Capucins Cable Car, officially known as the Téléphérique de Brest, is a unique urban cable car system that connects the Siam district to the Plateau des Capucins, crossing the Penfeld River. Inaugurated in 2016, it was the first cable car built in France for public transport since the Grenoble Bastille cableway.

The system features two cabins, each capable of carrying up to 60 passengers, offering a smooth and scenic ride over Brest’s maritime landscape. The journey lasts about three minutes, reaching a height of 72 meters, providing breathtaking views of the harbor, Château de Brest, and the Ateliers des Capucins.

The Plateau des Capucins, once a military site, has been transformed into a vibrant cultural hub, featuring restaurants, exhibitions, and the 70.8 by Océanopolis science center. The cable car plays a crucial role in Brest’s urban mobility, reducing traffic congestion while offering a modern and sustainable transport solution.
