Place du Général-de-Gaulle, commonly referred to as Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville, is a prominent square in Rouen, situated on the right bank of the Seine River. This expansive quadrangular plaza is flanked by significant landmarks, including the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall) and the Church of Saint-Ouen. The square has undergone various transformations over the centuries, evolving from its origins as part of the Saint-Ouen Abbey complex to its current role as a civic and cultural hub.

A notable feature of the square is the equestrian statue of Napoleon I, crafted in bronze by sculptor Vital Gabriel Dubray and unveiled in 1865. This monument, depicting the emperor on horseback, was cast from bronze sourced from cannons used in the Battle of Austerlitz. The statue faced potential removal in the 1880s and again in 2020, but public sentiment favored its preservation. After restoration, it was reinstated in 2022 and is now recognized as a historic monument.

Today, Place du Général-de-Gaulle serves as a central gathering place in Rouen, offering both historical significance and modern amenities. The square features a landscaped pedestrian area with representations of zodiac signs and houses an underground parking facility. It is well-connected by public transportation, with several bus lines and a Cy'clic bike-sharing station nearby. The square's blend of architectural heritage and contemporary urban design makes it a noteworthy destination for visitors exploring Rouen.
