Osumi River Gorge
Natural Phenomenon in Berat

The Osum Gorge is a 26km river gorge in southern Albania. The gorge is near the town of Çorovodë and the river Osum passes through that before flowing through the town of Berat.
There are many small caves, caverns and ledges throughout the gorge. Some of the rock formations in the canyon have fanciful names such as the Cathedral, the Eye, and the Demon’s Door. The cliff are several hundred metres high at places which results in s sheltered micro-climate throughout the year.
High water from melting snow during the spring allows for navigating the entire length of the canyon by raft or canoe. The rapids are Category II, so you do not need a prior experience to go white water rafting. At the end of summer when the water is shallow you cannot raft, but you can hike through the canyon.
