Housed in Cork’s stunning old Customs House, the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery offers a relaxed and accessible art experience. At the heart of its permanent collection is a series of Graeco-Roman casts, modeled from sculptures in the Vatican. Acquired in 1816, these busts have since been joined by a flourishing collection of Irish art, including paintings, sculptures, and installations.

In homage to Ireland’s rich literary tradition, the gallery also features numerous portraits of beloved Irish writers, such as Samuel Beckett, WB Yeats, and Elizabeth Bowen. A visit to this welcoming gallery is perfectly complemented by a coffee and a bite to eat in the friendly, airy café, making it an ideal cultural outing in Cork.
