The Independence Monument, is situates in Plaza of the Flag in Vlore. The monument represents Albania’s declaration of independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912.
It monument shows the masterful work of the prominent Albanian sculptors: Muntaz Dhrami, Kristaq Rama and Shaban Hadëri. The most prominent figure, among those in the sculptural bronze collection, is Ismail Qemali, one of the leaders of the Independence movement and the first prime minister of Albania. The memorial is 17 metres high and has a large bronze flag being waved in the centre of it.
The plaza itself ringed by palm trees and pine trees, the square has seats where you can sit and relax.
