Tandartsenpraktijk St.Elisabeths Gasthuis is a dental practice in Arnhem, best thought of as a practical stop rather than a classic “attraction.” If you're traveling through the city and need routine care, a check-up, or help with a dental issue, it can be useful to know where clinics are located—especially if you're staying centrally and exploring on foot.

Because Arnhem is a very walkable city, you can easily fold a quick appointment into a self-guided walking tour: pair it with a stroll through the city center, a riverside walk near the Rhine, or a visit to one of Arnhem's museums and parks. If you're mapping out “best places to see,” treat this as a convenience waypoint in your itinerary rather than a sightseeing highlight.

History and Significance of the Tandartsenpraktijk St.Elisabeths Gasthuis

The name “St. Elisabeths Gasthuis” echoes a long European tradition: “gasthuis” historically referred to a place of care and hospitality, often connected to charitable or church-linked healthcare. In many Dutch cities, these names remain in use for medical-related locations and services, even as facilities modernize.

As a contemporary dental practice in Arnhem, the significance here is practical—access to care while you're in town. For travelers, that can matter as much as any landmark: a broken filling, sudden tooth pain, or a lost retainer can derail a trip quickly.

If you're visiting Arnhem for a longer stay (work trip, study exchange, or slow travel), having a reliable local clinic on your radar can be part of smart trip planning, alongside pharmacies, urgent care, and transport hubs.

Things to See and Do in the Tandartsenpraktijk St.Elisabeths Gasthuis

This is not a sightseeing venue, so “things to do” are centered on dental services: routine check-ups, hygiene/cleaning appointments, and addressing urgent discomfort. If you’re anxious about dental visits, consider asking in advance about appointment length, language options, and what to expect during treatment.

If your schedule allows, plan a low-stress buffer before and after. Arnhem’s center has plenty of calm places to decompress—short walks, cafés, and green pockets make it easy to reset after an appointment.

For travelers, the best way to “experience” this stop is to make it seamless: combine it with nearby errands (ATM, pharmacy, groceries) and then continue your day with Arnhem’s more traditional highlights.

"It seems like the dentist is only interested in the money. I've had this experience myself and heard from others that she's very critical of cosmeticissues and then recommends a very expensive procedure. She also wanted to replace my fillings, even though they were placed less than a year ago by another dentist and I had no problems with them at all. I really can't recommend this dentist to anyone...."

"The bad practice ever be smart and do not go to this practice. Besides the fact that the communication was difficult due to poor Dutch they let youwait 130 minutes in the waiting room with anesthesia that had worn off in the meantime. The good reviews were from the previous dentists. The current dentists had never had such a good review. Keep an eye on zorgkaart.nl these reviews are kept for 3 years. So in 2 years this practice will have a score that the practice deserves. (And it does not score 5 stars)..."

"Today I visited the Elisabeths Gasthuis dental practice with dental hygienist Yalda. I felt she treated me with great care and expertise. I'llhappily go back to a dental hygienist for the first time next time! Thank you, Yalda...."

For Different Travelers

Not every trip is about museums and viewpoints—sometimes travel planning is about being prepared. Here’s how this place fits different travel styles.

Families with Kids

If you’re traveling with kids, having a nearby dentist can be reassuring, especially for longer stays or if a child has braces or sensitive teeth. Try to schedule at a time that doesn’t clash with nap windows and bring a small distraction for the waiting room.

If your child is anxious, ask ahead about a gentle approach and how the first visit is structured. A calm plan afterward—like a short walk or a simple treat—can help the day feel easier.

Couples & Romantic Getaways

On a romantic weekend, a dental appointment is obviously not the goal—but it can be the fix that saves the rest of your itinerary. If something flares up, prioritize getting it handled quickly so you can get back to enjoying Arnhem.

Plan something low-key afterward: a café stop, a scenic stroll, or a relaxed dinner. Keeping the rest of the day flexible helps if you feel sore or tired post-visit.

Budget Travelers

Dental care can be expensive, so budget travelers should be especially careful about estimates and what’s included. Ask for clarity on costs before agreeing to non-urgent procedures.

If you’re on travel insurance, check what documentation you’ll need for reimbursement. Keeping receipts and treatment notes organized can make a big difference later.
