Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe. It has land borders to the north with Belarus, to the east with Russia, to the south-west with and Romania, to the west with Slovakia and Hungary, and to the north west with Poland. Its south coast overlooks the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

Ukraine occupies the south-western portion of the Russian Plain which consists of fertile black soil steppes. Mountainous areas include the Ukrainian Carpathians in the south-west and the Crimean Mountains chain in the south along the country’s borders.

The coasts of the sea of Azov and the Black Sea offer a traditional beach destination and the towns of Kiev, Lviv and Odessa offer a rich cultural and architectural history.
